Need some motivation today? Still waiting for the coffee kick in? While we’re talking about coffee, here’s something to keep in mind whenever you’re facing a professional or personal challenge: Howard Schultz, the founder of Starbucks, was rejected 242 times when he tried to secure capital. Think about that. Think about Schultz’ mindset. He could have given up but he didn’t. It doesn’t matter if you’re a founder with a promising idea or a manager making your way up the corporate ladder or a high-flying CEO. You will encounter challenges at some point. Someone will always say “no”. Some people will always reject your ideas. But how you react to that rejection defines your experience. Persistence and determination is what matters in the end. Giving up is easy. Anyone can give up. But what separates the eventual winners from the rest is the ability to persevere despite the odds and no matter the challenge. Think about that the next time you sip your coffee.
