TBG Welcomes Winter/2020 Internship Team

We are excited to introduce you to The Bassiouni Group’s Winter/2020 Internship Team: Yunzhen Wang — MPA “21 (International Finance & Economic Policy), Ines Boussebaa — MPA “20 (Sustainable Development, Energy & Environmental Policy), Yuval Bresler — MPA “21 (International Finance & Economic Policy and Management),and Chunyan Qiu — MPA “20 (Environmental Science & Policy). This talented group of graduate students from Columbia University/SIPA will be assisting TBG with project-related tasks, business development, and research & analysis. Overall, they will tackle various Consulting and Investment initiatives ranging from Agriculture, AI and Cleantech to Fashion, Retail and Manufacturing. Say hello to the team!

 

Yunzhen Wang  – Columbia University SIPA 

Yunzhen is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Public Administration at Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), concentrating in international finance policy and specializing in management. She also won first place in the Columbia University Consulting Case Competition in November, 2019.

Her prior internship experience ranges from The Hudson Institute, where she wrote papers on Sino-Russia energy issues as well as the Russian natural gas market, to Deloitte Consulting, where she conducted industry research into the hospitality sector and provided recommendations. She also completed an internship at the Brookings-Tsinghua Center, where she took part in a research project on China’s urbanization policies and process.

Besides her internship experience, Yunzhen is able to leverage her prior experience as chairman of the Siemens Student Association, which enabled her to develop communications and interpersonal skills. Yunzhen also participated in Princeton University’s Global Governance Forum and the World Peace Forum, which enabled her to gain conference management experience as well as international affairs expertise and a global outlook.

Yunzhen is particularly interested in TBG’s experience and expert perspectives on financial markets, energy and the environment

 

Yuval Bresler  – Columbia University SIPA 

Yuval is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Public Administration at Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), concentrating in International Finance and Economic Policy with a specialization in Management.

Yuval was born and raised in Israel, where he served as an infantry platoon leader in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), managing large scale operations and intelligence. After he was honorably discharged, Yuval earned his bachelor’s degree in Law, with distinction, from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2017. During his bachelor’s degree, Yuval worked as a teaching and research assistance in the fields of corporate and contract law. Prior to his graduation, Yuval co-established a pro-bono law clinic in East Jerusalem, serving Palestinians and other minorities alike.

After his graduation, in 2017, Yuval joined Fischer Bahar & Co, Israel’s most acclaimed law firm. There he worked in the firm’s commercial litigation department, representing Israeli and foreign clients in large-scale international transactions, ongoing business operations, Mergers & Acquisitions, capital markets, and commercial litigation. He also worked at the High Court of Justice Department at Israel’s Justice Department. His experience there included mostly regulation and infrastructure cases as he had to draft statements of defense for legal petitions rendered vs. the state of Israel. Yuval also provided legal counsel to high-ranked government stockholders of Israel’s administrative branch on different policy issues.

Yuval enjoys spending his time reading, traveling the world, and surfing. He is excited for the opportunity to be a part of TBG where he hopes to learn more about business and growth strategy, value investing, projects finance, and international trade.

Ines Boussebaa – Columbia University SIPA 

Ines is currently enrolled at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). She will earn her Master of International Affairs degree in May 2020, focusing on energy and environmental policy and sustainable development.

Ines earned two bachelor’s degrees from Boston University in 2017, where she majored in International Relations and Journalism. While in her senior year, Ines briefly worked as a freelance journalist, publishing pieces for the Boston Globe and Boston Magazine. After graduating, Ines moved to New York City, where she worked for the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom. Her experience there included a focus on communications and conducting research on women’s rights in the context of peace and security.

While at SIPA, Ines has worked for World Vision in Mali, gaining experience in a humanitarian context. Additionally, she has worked for the Center on Global Energy Policy, where she gained an understanding of energy issues.

Ines is fluent in French and enjoys traveling, hiking and reading. She is excited for the opportunity to be a part of TBG, where she hopes to learn more about sustainable development consulting, as it relates to energy and the environment.

Chunyan/Sherry Qiu– Columbia University SIPA

Chunyan is currently enrolled at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. She will earn her Master of Public Administration degree in May 2020, majoring on Environmental Science and Policy.

Chunyan earned her two bachelor’s degrees from the Josai International University (Japan), majoring in Supply Chain and Dalian Foreign Languages University (China) concentrating on Japanese and Chinese.

Chunyan’s first career was as a fashion model and actor working internationally in Tokyo, Paris, Milan, New York, and Singapore, and she gained the ability to work well under stress in multiple international markets and multicultural settings. She then served as a marketing content video editor for Compass Inc where she gained valuable experience working with one of the leading real estate teams in the City.

Chunyan is fluent in Chinese, Japanese and enjoys traveling. She is excited for the opportunity to be a part of TBG where she hopes to learn more about impact investing and corporate social responsibility. Chunyan is also highly interested in Sustainable Fashion and will also work closely with TBG Purpose/Fashion Industry Team.
